Welcome to Belle Mare
The east coast of Mauritius embodies some of the most beautiful shores of the whole island, with coral reef that drapes the coastline and creates extensive lagoons with calm waters.
As the great ocean waves break with a roar upon the reefs extremities a translucent white pencilthin white line divides the deep blue of the Indian Ocean from the iridescent relaxing shades of green, turquoise and intense blue of the lagoon.
The beach of Belle Mare is a pearl in this paradise, and according to many the best beach in Mauritius, well equipped and easy to reach, a few kilometers north of the village of Trou d'Eau Douce, a turning point for countless adventures. SSR International Airport is located to the south only 47 km from Belle Mare.
Residents of local hotels can sun-bath either on public beaches, or on secluded and remote areas. For those who are tired of swimming and lying in the sun there is a Natural Spring in a man-made stone hole to be observed. Victoria 1840 (an old sugar mill) is another place worth visiting. However, the most exciting activity for tourists is diving.
As a wonderful place to discover scuba diving, Belle Mare has large areas of natural coral, bursting with underwater sea life and clear underwater visibility. If you are a novice and wish to experience a scuba dive then Belle Mare is a good place to try it out.
Experienced Scuba divers are spoilt for choice of dive sites and can head straight for the more adventurous dive sites at Belle Mare such as The Canyon or Ray Point with astonishing cliffs, caverns, reefs, pinnacles and wide range of corals and marine life. Night Diving in Belle Mare is outstanding as well.
